DON’T BE UNKNOWN!

I saw this story about a jogger who collapsed while running in the park on New Year’s Eve. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Without having any Identification on him, the hospital used social media and news media to try and determine who he was.

He was finally identified but not before he died.

You never know where you will be or when something might happen to you. And while anything can happen anywhere, anytime, please don’t make your family find out about you this way through social media.

  • If you have a medical condition, wear a Medical ID bracelet or dog tag with the Star of Life on it. You should also carry a medical information card, listing your medications and medical conditions.
    • The Star of Life symbol is universally recognized when worn by a patient, to inform qualified emergency medical care providers to medical conditions, or to identify appropriate treNo Known Med Conditionatment with regard to that patient.
  • If you don’t have a medical condition, at least carry an Identification card with you or wear a medical ID bracelet or dog tag with your I.C.E (in case of emergency information).
