Engraving your name on your medical ID is a personal preference but we recommend that at least your first name is included. In an emergency, emergency responders will say a person’s name to get their attention and check for responsiveness. We recommend that all Alzheimer’s, Dementia and other mentally compromised patients engrave their name and address or contact information of a friend, caregiver or family member.
List only those medical conditions that would be important in an emergency. For example, a minor surgery that took place several years ago may no longer be relevant to your current medical care.
List only medicines you wish to be engraved. Generally, this would be prescription medicine, taken on a long-term daily basis which are unlikely to change. You may wish to list the most important medicines first.
List only those allergies which are severe and can cause a life threatening event.
Space is limited, so summarize your information with short, descriptive words. We provide Emergency Medical Cards with every purchase that can include as much detail as you would like.

This bracelet is lightweight and comfortable. The print is clear and easy to read. The bracelet itself is big, I had to cut a good bit off for it to be small enough to not slide over my hand. Clasp is easy to open. The only thing I would change would be making the medical symbol more obvious or perhaps on the actual tag. But it is a nice looking casual bracelet and so far has held up to a week of 3 toddler yanking on it with no problem.

Those of us who wear medical bracelets seem to be on a quest to find the right one that’s not only comfortable; but, also fits our lifestyle. After wasting money on several of the “metal chain-type” bracelets, I ordered the sport slim bracelet from Universal Medical.
This is one of the very few companies who offer a 9-line free engraving option with purchase. They also give you more spaces per line (22) for the lettering than some of the other companies. The engraving plate appears to be pewter or a brushed silver color. It’s very nice and very subtle. I had five lines engraved on the front of the plate and four lines on the back side. I stayed with the standard Arial font and the black letters are easily readable. The plate slides around on the silicon band so in case you need to adjust the band to fit your wrist, you can slide the plate to a comfortable position. The plate is not so loose it moves on its own; you have to move it.
I’m surprised to find out I like the silicone wristband. You have to turn the wrist band inside-out in order to open the clasps to remove the band from the clasp in order to resize it. I used my thumbnail to open the little claw hooks. Just follow the directions that come with it. A lesson learned – start off cutting it a bit long and always cut from the side without the medical caduceus (snake on a pole). I sized it a tad bit too short the first time and it was a bit snug on my wrist. I find the band is more comfortable if I can slide my little finger between the band and my wrist. I don’t like anything tight on my wrist. I ordered a replacement wristband from Universal Medical’s website (amazing customer service – it was here a couple of days after I ordered it and the replacement band was very affordable). I want to give a big shout-out to the questions section where someone asked how to get a replacement wristband and a company spokesman answered it. People really do read the Q&A sections on the products.
One of the nicest surprises was the clasp on the back of the wristband. It will be familiar to those of you who have had a good quality old-time watch. You flip the top lip open with your fingernail (it’s in the middle of the clasp with a little indentation in front of it) and then you squeeze the two release buttons and the rest of the clasp opens. It’s a simple and practical idea that makes it easy to take the bracelet on and off. If you’re left handed, or if it’s just more convenient, you can take remove the clasp from the wrist band and flip the clasp 180 degrees if it’s easier for you to open it that way.
The customized engraving is easy. Just follow the “customize now” instructions for the front and back. You can switch between the front and back until you get the engraving just like you want it. You get a chance to do a final review on checkout and you can switch between the front and back (maybe it says top and bottom???) to check the engraving before you finalize the purchase.
You get a medical card and sleeve with each purchase. Oh, sure, if you’re like us you probably have several floating around where you cram in everything you want the health care folks to know about you and you wrote so small or tried to get in too much it’s not very readable. This is so much better. You can create a logon to Universal Medical’s website and they have a function under the “account” section where you can type in all your information. When it prints, there are cut lines and fold lines and it easily fits into the sleeve that came with your purchase. I got a medical card when I purchased the bracelet and another one when I had to get a new wristband. The website allows you to create and save two medical alert cards so I created one for my husband and it went in the second sleeve.
I always ask myself if I would purchase the item I’m reviewing again. This is a resounding “yes”. If I just need another engraving plate (things do change) or lose/gain weight and need another wristband, the parts are available on the company’s website. As I said earlier, I got the second wristband within a couple of days of ordering it.
I appreciate good customer service and good quality products. This company has both. This is a good looking medical bracelet for both men and women.

This is a good bracelet, my only problem with it is I have some skin issues (eczema being one of them). When this bracelet gets whet my skin gets damp underneath causing a clear up of my eczema. Those of us who wear medical bracelets seem to be on a quest to find the right one that’s not only comfortable; but, also fits our lifestyle. After wasting money on several of the “metal chain-type” bracelets, I ordered the sport slim bracelet from Universal Medical.
This is one of the very few companies who offer a 9-line free engraving option with purchase. They also give you more spaces per line (22) for the lettering than some of the other companies. The engraving plate appears to be pewter or a brushed silver color. It’s very nice and very subtle. I had five lines engraved on the front of the plate and four lines on the back side. I stayed with the standard Arial font and the black letters are easily readable. The plate slides around on the silicon band so in case you need to adjust the band to fit your wrist, you can slide the plate to a comfortable position. The plate is not so loose it moves on its own; you have to move it.
I’m surprised to find out I like the silicone wristband. You have to turn the wrist band inside-out in order to open the clasps to remove the band from the clasp in order to resize it. I used my thumbnail to open the little claw hooks. Just follow the directions that come with it. A lesson learned – start off cutting it a bit long and always cut from the side without the medical caduceus (snake on a pole). I sized it a tad bit too short the first time and it was a bit snug on my wrist. I find the band is more comfortable if I can slide my little finger between the band and my wrist. I don’t like anything tight on my wrist. I ordered a replacement wristband from Universal Medical’s website (amazing customer service – it was here a couple of days after I ordered it and the replacement band was very affordable). I want to give a big shout-out to the questions section where someone asked how to get a replacement wristband and a company spokesman answered it. People really do read the Q&A sections on the products.
One of the nicest surprises was the clasp on the back of the wristband. It will be familiar to those of you who have had a good quality old-time watch. You flip the top lip open with your fingernail (it’s in the middle of the clasp with a little indentation in front of it) and then you squeeze the two release buttons and the rest of the clasp opens. It’s a simple and practical idea that makes it easy to take the bracelet on and off. If you’re left handed, or if it’s just more convenient, you can take remove the clasp from the wrist band and flip the clasp 180 degrees if it’s easier for you to open it that way.
The customized engraving is easy. Just follow the “customize now” instructions for the front and back. You can switch between the front and back until you get the engraving just like you want it. You get a chance to do a final review on checkout and you can switch between the front and back (maybe it says top and bottom???) to check the engraving before you finalize the purchase.
You get a medical card and sleeve with each purchase. Oh, sure, if you’re like us you probably have several floating around where you cram in everything you want the health care folks to know about you and you wrote so small or tried to get in too much it’s not very readable. This is so much better. You can create a logon to Universal Medical’s website and they have a function under the “account” section where you can type in all your information. When it prints, there are cut lines and fold lines and it easily fits into the sleeve that came with your purchase. I got a medical card when I purchased the bracelet and another one when I had to get a new wristband. The website allows you to create and save two medical alert cards so I created one for my husband and it went in the second sleeve.
I always ask myself if I would purchase the item I’m reviewing again. This is a resounding “yes”. If I just need another engraving plate (things do change) or lose/gain weight and need another wristband, the parts are available on the company’s website. As I said earlier, I got the second wristband within a couple of days of ordering it.
I appreciate good customer service and good quality products. This company has both. This is a good looking medical bracelet for both men and women.

If you’re left handed, or if it’s just more convenient, you can take remove the clasp from the wrist band and flip the clasp 180 degrees if it’s easier for you to open it that way. The customized engraving is easy. Just follow the “customize now” instructions for the front and back. You can switch between the front and back until you get the engraving just like you want it. You get a chance to do a final review on checkout and you can switch between the front and back (maybe it says top and bottom???) to check the engraving before you finalize the purchase. You get a medical card and sleeve with each purchase. Oh, sure, if you’re like us you probably have several floating around where you cram in everything you want the health care folks to know about you and you wrote so small or tried to get in too much it’s not very readable. This is so much better. You can create a logon to Universal Medical’s website and they have a function under the “account” section where you can type in all your information. When it prints, there are cut lines and fold lines and it easily fits into the sleeve that came with your purchase. I got a medical card when I purchased the bracelet and another one when I had to get a new wristband. The website allows you to create and save two medical alert cards so I created one for my husband and it went in the second sleeve. I always ask myself if I would purchase the item I’m reviewing again. This is a resounding “yes”. If I just need another engraving plate (things do change) or lose/gain weight and need another wristband, the parts are available on the company’s website. As I said earlier, I got the second wristband within a couple of days of ordering it. I appreciate good customer service and good quality products. This company has both. This is a good looking medical bracelet for both men and women.

I have had this bracelet for a couple of months now. I needed something that would hold more information than most, and I wanted something that would last longer than the stainless one I had purchased previously. This one holds plenty of information and the black print makes it much easier to read than my previous one that was just engraved. So far the print has stayed on, but there are some scratches already on the front that cut through the print so I’m not sure how much of a problem that will be. I have been buying these bracelets for years and I find I pretty much have to replace them yearly regardless of what I spend on them so I tend toward the less expensive option (I have purchased a couple for over $100 and they haven’t lasted any longer than the $20 ones). I’m not sure the print on the front of this one will last that long, but I keep the important info on the back and this one is MUCH easier to read than the ones that are just engraved. The band is fine; I like the red because it’s more noticeable than some of the decorative ones I’ve worn (which ER staff have overlooked as just jewelry). Communication with the company was easy, I received the bracelet quickly, it was easy to size, and I can actually just slip it on and off when I shower rather than having to use the clasp. So far it’s one of the better bracelets I’ve purchased, and the price was great. I would recommend this to others, assuming you have realistic expectations for how long the print on any of these will last.

I love that this medic alert ID has room for so much information, and even has room on the back for more. However, the medic alert insignia is not very well defined – it doesn’t stand out. In addition, the insignia is in a place that isn’t readily visible, and that’s the whole purpose of having it on the bracelet – so folks know what it is. I have already thrown the bracelet away. But I kept the metal part, and added it to another medical alert bracelet that works better for me.

I like the look of it, but when trying to size it I had great difficulty. First, I saw no lines for cutting, then when trying to reassemble it, I couldn’t get the latch closed. While trying to do this, the other end came undone. I thought I had both ends closed but the end I had initially opened to size came undone. I sent it back to the company to fix, but if I continue to have problems will be asking for a refund.

The bracelet is great however I thought by looking at the picture and reading the description that is was 2 separate bracelets and not one made up of two colors.. that’s the only complaint honestly I believe it needs to be added into the description that it is 1 bracelet made of two colors ..

I love the look. Easy to clean. My child is 6 and tends to be finicky with things. He had been taking it off during school and bending it back and forth. After only a couple days, it started to crack. I was hoping it would hold up better. Hard to find something for kids that lasts and that won’t bother them for medical alert.

I love this item. The reason for 2 stars is almost no one knew it was a medical alert bracelet. They all thought it was some sort of activity tracker or had a saying on it. Wish the medic alert symbol was in front near plate, not in back near clasp. Other than that I really loved the item. I don’t bother wearing it. Even ER didn’t realize that it was medical alert bracelet. They do have a bigger one that you can get a metal add on symbol to go near name plate. But why should you have to buy another thing to make it look like a medical alert bracelet. So disappointed. Haven’t figured out replacement.

The bracelet was nice when it arrived. My son has autism and he loved it. But, within 3-4 weeks the letters started fading away. Now, you can hardly read what it says. I honestly don’t recommend this one.

All I have to say is do not buy this bracelet unless you are a giant. It is WAY too big for both men and women. It goes all the way up my arm and falls off my hand. Also they left off a line of my engraving. So I just threw $36 in the trash.

I don’t really like anything on my wrist so any bracelet is a stretch. It’s a good idea to have a medical indication when you’re not with family or friends who know about any condition. I got this when I was traveling, just in case. It’s discrete enough.

I have had this bracelet for a couple of months now. I needed something that would hold more information than most, and I wanted something that would last longer than the stainless one I had purchased previously. This one holds plenty of information and the black print makes it much easier to read than my previous one that was just engraved. So far the print has stayed on, but there are some scratches already on the front that cut through the print so I’m not sure how much of a problem that will be. I have been buying these bracelets for years and I find I pretty much have to replace them yearly regardless of what I spend on them so I tend toward the less expensive option (I have purchased a couple for over $100 and they haven’t lasted any longer than the $20 ones). I’m not sure the print on the front of this one will last that long, but I keep the important info on the back and this one is MUCH easier to read than the ones that are just engraved. The band is fine; I like the red because it’s more noticeable than some of the decorative ones I’ve worn (which ER staff have overlooked as just jewelry). Communication with the company was easy, I received the bracelet quickly, it was easy to size, and I can actually just slip it on and off when I shower rather than having to use the clasp. So far it’s one of the better bracelets I’ve purchased, and the price was great. I would recommend this to others, assuming you have realistic expectations for how long the print on any of these will last.

I did not like the clasp for this. It was extemely hard to set up and you have to cut off the extra. My son is very skinny from just getting diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes so his wrists are thin now but not for long. Now we can’t make it bigger.

I am more than pleased with this product. It’s very well made, lightweight and comfortable. The latch is solid unlike some other bracelets I’ve had in the past. I don’t have to constantly check to make sure it’s still there yet I forget it’s even on. The text is legible. I love the fact it’s text on both sides. I don’t like having sensitive information so easily seen yet accessible when needed. I only wish it came in green/black or that the band’s were sold separately.

I love that there are so many lines to write allergies or medical conditions on. Some bands only had 1 or 2 lines. For me, I did not want my personal information on the front of the band, but I needed several line for my (3) antibiotic drug allergies. So, I was able to put a simple quote on the front, then enter my drug allergies on the underside. Still has the medical alert sign, so when I wear it, if I ever need it, medical personnel will be able to easily access the info.

This bracelet is lightweight and comfortable. The print is clear and easy to read. The bracelet itself is big, I had to cut a good bit off for it to be small enough to not slide over my hand. Clasp is easy to open. The only thing I would change would be making the medical symbol more obvious or perhaps on the actual tag. But it is a nice looking casual bracelet and so far has held up to a week of 3 toddler yanking on it with no problem.
